Retraction and Correction Policy
Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat (JPM)
Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat (JPM) is committed to upholding the integrity, accuracy, and ethical standards of all published community service research articles. When errors, ethical breaches, or scientific misconduct are identified, JPM follows the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to issue corrections or retractions transparently.
1 Article Corrections
Corrections are published when errors are identified that affect the accuracy or understanding of an article, but do not invalidate its core findings or community impact outcomes.
Erratum: Issued to correct significant errors introduced by the journal during the copyediting, typesetting, or production process.
Corrigendum: Issued to correct major errors made by the authors during manuscript preparation, data collection, or partner identification that impact accuracy without compromising the integrity of the work.
Correction Procedure:
- A formal Correction Notice titled "Correction to: [Article Title]" will be published in the current issue.
- The notice will be bi-directionally linked to the original article and assigned its own DOI.
- The original online article (PDF/HTML) will be updated with a clear footnote indicating the date and nature of the correction.
2 Article Retractions
An article may be retracted if there is evidence of severe scientific/ethical misconduct or fundamental flaws that render the findings and conclusions unreliable.
Criteria for Retraction:
- Clear evidence of data fabrication, falsification, or manipulation regarding community interventions or project outcomes.
- Plagiarism or duplicate/redundant publication without proper acknowledgment.
- Unethical treatment or conduct involving community partners, participants, or local populations.
- Failure to disclose significant conflicts of interest that compromise the objectivity of the study.
- Material copyright infringement or unauthorized use of third-party data/materials.
Retraction Procedure:
- A Retraction Notice titled "Retraction: [Article Title]" will be published in the current issue and linked directly to the original paper.
- The original PDF of the article will remain in the journal repository to preserve the historical publishing record, but each page will be visibly watermarked with "RETRACTED".
- The Retraction Notice will explicitly state who is retracting the article (authors or editor) and the exact reasons behind the retraction.
3 Article Withdrawal & Replacement
- Article Withdrawal: Generally limited to articles in "In Press" or pre-publication stages that contain clear errors or violate ethical policies before formal publication.
- Article Replacement: In extremely rare circumstances involving serious legal risks or privacy violations (e.g., identity disclosure of vulnerable community subjects), the original article may be removed and replaced with a modified version detailing the reason for replacement.
