Policy on Generative AI Usage

Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat (JPM) follows the international guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in academic publishing. This policy outlines the acceptable boundaries and transparency requirements for authors, reviewers, and editors.

1 Authorship & AI Tools

AI tools cannot fulfill the responsibilities required of scientific authorship.

No AI Authorship: Generative AI tools, Large Language Models (LLMs such as ChatGPT, Claude, etc.), or AI software CANNOT be listed as an author or co-author on any manuscript submitted to JPM.

Rationale: Authorship carries accountability, legal rights, and ethical obligations for the published work, which AI systems cannot assume or take responsibility for.

2 Disclosure & Transparency Requirements

Authors who utilize Generative AI technologies in the preparation of their manuscript must maintain full transparency:

Mandatory Statement: Authors using AI tools for writing assistance, language editing, data processing, or generating content must declare this within a dedicated section titled "Declaration of Generative AI Use" or in the Methods section or section before Refference.
Required Information: The disclosure must specify the name of the tool, version, purpose of use, and how the output was critically evaluated or edited by the authors.
Exceptions: Basic grammar checkers (e.g., Grammarly), spelling tools, or reference managers (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero) do not require formal disclosure.

Author Accountability:

Authors remain 100% responsible for the accuracy, original research content, integrity, avoidance of plagiarism, and prevention of AI-generated fabrications or "hallucinations" in their submitted papers.

3 Confidentiality for Editors & Reviewers

Strict Confidentiality: Peer reviewers and editors are strictly prohibited from uploading submitted manuscripts or any parts thereof into AI tools or generative software.
Protection of Intellectual Property: Uploading unpublished manuscripts to external AI platforms violates author confidentiality and copyright protections.
